A Gorgeous Gem by Googoosh

Radio Bastet

If you love vintage Middle Eastern music like I do – I mean the real stuff, with heavy drums and real instruments, rather than the drum kits and keyboards of today’s Arabic music, you absolutely must check out the podcasts of Radio Bastet. Marisa, the site owner, has a massive collection of golden age belly dance vinyl LPs and has put together around 80 podcasts for our listening pleasure with tracklists, album covers, and all. Such an amazing collection! This is not only some of the best belly dance music out there, but sounds I would recommend to any music lover.

Latcho Drom

Beautiful clip from the highly-recommended movie, Latcho Drom, which captures the journey of Romani gypsies from India to Spain through music and dance. This clip shows the folkloric music and dance of the Ghawazi people in Egypt.

Abdel Halim Hafez – Teftekernie

Beautiful 60s Arabic music by Abedel Halim Hafez. For those who know, that is Omar Khorshid on guitar!
