Belly Dance in an Oriental Galaxy

For the start of this new year, I’ve created a mix of some of my favorite psychedelic belly dance tunes including deep cuts from Omar Khorshid, Baligh Hamdi, Sabah, and more. If you enjoy this type of music and are in the Los Angeles area, check out my upcoming show with Egyptian surf rock band, Zamman, on Friday, January 19.

New Video with Zamman

Here’s a new video with the psychedelic Egyptian surf rock band, Zamman, performed in San Diego, California. See us live this Friday, January 19 at the Palace in Los Angeles.

Alia is now based in Los Angeles

I have relocated to Los Angeles, California and have several projects in the works I’m excited to share soon. In the meantime, here’s a video of me performing with a San Diego based psychedelic Egyptian surf rock band, Zamman, who I have an upcoming show with in November.

Radio Bastet

If you love vintage Middle Eastern music like I do – I mean the real stuff, with heavy drums and real instruments, rather than the drum kits and keyboards of today’s Arabic music, you absolutely must check out the podcasts of Radio Bastet. Marisa, the site owner, has a massive collection of golden age belly dance vinyl LPs and has put together around 80 podcasts for our listening pleasure with tracklists, album covers, and all. Such an amazing collection! This is not only some of the best belly dance music out there, but sounds I would recommend to any music lover.
